I'm seeing the same incompatibility Dermot. I have a teen who excels at subjects when his teachers incorporate interactivity but cannot motivate himself to listen to the teachers who 'lecture'. There's a great chapter in Johann Hari's recent book 'Stolen Focus' that links our collective 'learned helplessness' with a change in parenting and teaching - in both situations our kids are discouraged from exploration and encouraged to follow a formula and stay in their 'safe place' or comfort zone. The problem with comfort zones is that they can be comfortable and prevent us from growing 🤔
